How to Make Money as an Amazon Affiliate

Imagine yourself owning a business that requires no inventory or startup capital but partners with the most prominent internet retailer in the world. It can be done from anywhere in the world and generates potential significant earnings. Sounds pretty interesting, right? This business model exists, and it's called the Amazon Associates program. It is a free-to-use affiliate marketing program where you can promote and market any product selling on your media.

I got interested in Amazon Associates program because I am also about to apply this business technique myself. I believe applying this business idea can help me generate additional cash as a blogger and YouTuber. Because of my interest in this business model, I will share it with readers on this blog. This article will explain what Amazon Associates program is and how you can make money as an Amazon Affiliate. Moreover, I will explain the step-by-step method to do it yourself.

How does the Amazon affiliate program work?
Amazon Associates is one of the first sets of affiliate marketing programs that was launched in 1996. This program has a track record of over 12 years of developing solutions for helping website owners, developers, and sellers on Amazon make money by advertising tons of used and new products from amazon.com.

The Amazon affiliate program helps content creators, publishers, and bloggers monetize their traffic and earn extra income. Bloggers and website owners who are Associates create links for customers to click on to earn referral fees. Amazon will pay you a referral commission fee every time a customer makes a purchase using your affiliate link.

The awesome part is, even if the reader purchases a different product than the one you promoted, you will still receive a commission as long as they got to Amazon from your unique link (and as long as they purchase within 24 hours of clicking it). In order to generate traffic that you refer to Amazon, you will need to have an audience. This can come from a blog, niche website, YouTube, Instagram, and other social media channels. The Amazon Affiliate program is free to join and very simple to use!

I did my research on the internet and found out many stories of success. Many people are doing the Amazon Associates program and make a living from it. From my research, I got interested in doing it myself. Because I am a blogger and a soon-to-be YouTuber, becoming a partner of Amazon Affiliate is suitable for me. For example, let's say I am recommending a personal finance book on my blog or YouTube channel, and I decided to place the unique link from Amazon on the books I am promoting, I will get a commission from Amazon if anyone buys the books from the links I placed on the media. This is really great for me because I can make extra cash on the side doing this.

Ways to Promote Your Amazon Affiliate Links.
Blogging:
Blogging is probably the most common way affiliates make money with the Amazon Associates program. Some bloggers have a general topic site and use a variety of affiliate programs and other monetization options. Other bloggers have a niche site, zeroing in on select products that the site covers. Either way, making money with Amazon Associates on a blog can be done by:

  1. Writing content for your blog or website about picking or buying a product available on Amazon. Now more than ever, people go online to research their buying options. If you are a mom blogger, you can write an article on picking a low-cost vacuum with a link to your top choice or several links to your top choices. A food blogger can link to cooking tools. A photography site can link to cameras and other photography equipment.
  1. Writing reviews of new products. Again, people want to know about items before they invest money in them, especially if they are new and there is not much information available.

  1. Writing about best-sellers. You can use the best-sellers listed on Amazon, or if you have an affiliate sales history with Amazon, check your stats to see what has sold best in your blog's community.

  1. Promoting special offers on the blog. This works well if you have a daily deal blog. This step requires that you watch Amazon for special promotions on products that fit in your website's topic area.

Social Media:
You can use social media to share your blog content with affiliate links, or you can directly share your affiliate links. Note that you should indicate that the link is an affiliate link when you post to be transparent and not annoy your followers. People do not want to be sold to all the time, so posting affiliate links should be interspersed with non-affiliate and non-sales posts.

YouTube Videos:
You can offer much of the same types of content on video as you do on a blog, such as reviews. The advantage of video for generating income is that you can give tutorials, tours, and other visual content that better help potential buyers decide whether to buy the items or not.

The Amazon Affiliate Roadmap
Amazon's affiliate program is just like every other one out there. You sign up, pick out a product, get your affiliate link, and start promoting. If you already have a live site, you're essentially ready to promote products and make money. However, if you are here from scratch, I will explain what you have to do.

  • Step 1.Find a high-demand product or niche to promote.
First, you have to find a niche you want to promote. A niche is a target audience, the main topic of your site, a small-to-medium-sized group interested in a particular product type. You will need to figure out what you are all about. An example of a niche of mine is personal finance and stock investing. My blog and YouTube channel have a target audience of people interested in learning how to manage their personal finance and invest in the stock market. So, suitable products I can promote are books on investing.

  • Step 2. Choose Your Choice of Media.
After you found a niche, the next thing on the list is to choose your choice of media. There are many ways you can promote your products. This can be a web or blog you have or a YouTube channel. Personally, I have a blog of my own and a YouTube channel. These are examples of media I am going to use as an Amazon Affiliate.

If you do not have a web or blog of your own, you can simply make one. In this day and age, creating a website only takes a minute. There are a lot of ways you can choose from to create a web of your own. Personally, I chose Blogspot as my choice of the web platform. It is free to use, and it is not that difficult to work on it. I have created many websites using this platform and highly recommend it to anyone who is still a beginner.

  • Step 3. Sign-up For Amazon Associates
The Amazon affiliate program has this rule where you will have to earn your first sales within the first three months after signing up. If you are not confident you can, do not worry, most people cannot, then I recommend holding off the sign-up form for at least your first couple of months.

When you are ready, the process is not complicated. Not as fast and straightforward as most, but still. It will take you only about 5 minutes to complete your application. After that, you are ready to start making some money.

  • Step 4. Promote Your Product(s) Properly.
When you hear the marketing term such as "advertise" or "promote," you might probably think of stuff like placing ads on your site or sending out tweets and Facebook posts. In affiliate marketing, those tactics rarely work. They might have worked years ago, but it's outdated today.

Modern affiliate marketing strategies revolve around content. This can be in product reviews, product comparisons, buyer guides, and many more. You can use content delivery channels like video, text, and even sometimes audio.

I used Amazon Associates when promoting the gadgets that I used in my bedroom workstation. I placed referral links on the product descriptions. This allows visitors to click on the links and able to purchase the products I am promoting.

Bottom Line
I hope after reading this blog post, you know how to make money with Amazon Affiliate program. As a content creator, I am also applying this technique to promote products I recommend. I think this is a great idea to make some extra cash on the side. Amazon Associates allow a content creator to endorse and earn commissions on the side.

Affiliate marketing with Amazon and other vendors is a great way to make a living at home. Nevertheless, it takes more than starting a website or blog and posting a few affiliate links. It takes knowing a market's needs, providing information and resources to meet those needs, and helping the market find your solutions.
